Olmeoshi Primary School, Maasai Mara North: This is a primary boarding/day school in the Northern Maasai Mara with 450 students, combining both Maasai & Kipsigis children, many of whom are orphaned and all are very poor.

Through the help of our guests over the years, our company has supported the school in the form of funding the building of a library, teachers accommodation, and a year’s worth of schools lunches kindly donated in 2019 by one of our guests.

This year we are funding the school lunches internally, and a percentage of each safari goes in part towards this cost.

Our underlying principle for conservation in Africa is that Conservation efforts must go hand in hand with community development. The local communities who live alongside conservation areas must be motivated to participate in the conservation efforts – both physically and financially. Unless the communities see some benefit from conservation, they are not going to be motivated to look after the wildlife. This principle we feel is going to be an underlying principle for the future of African Wildlife.

To this end, they have both committed countless hours to community conservation projects all over Kenya, including the Maasai Mara outlying conservation areas, in the Lamu District on the North Kenya coast where they have formed the Lamu Conservation Trust in partnership with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and with the local communities.
