Robert and William Carr-Hartley hone a tradition of adventure and a passion for wildlife & conservation that was started by their Grandfather, Tom Carr-Hartley four generations ago, who through a lifetime in the African bush and handling wildlife, became an expert in something that was in extremely rare supply in the 1940’s – a person who could handle the capture and habituation of big game…as well as small game. By the early 1940’s Tom had purchased a large game ranch in the Laikipia area of central Kenya, which served as the habituation ground for his captured animals, that would then be moved into newly-established National Parks in the region, or to be used on some of the 50’s & 60’s era big-hit African movies, such as ‘Mogambo’, ‘Hatari’, ‘African Queen’ & ‘King Solomon’s Mines’.
Enter Robert & William, who started their own safari company in the early 90’s and adapted the traditional safaris of old into a niche of word-of-mouth private safaris for the discerning guest who is looking for an incredible African experience that is adventurous, fun, quiet and educational, away from the crowds, mostly private, and in the best camps, lodges and conservation areas Africa has to offer.
Robert and William’s 30 years of experience in the safari business has always epitomized excellence, style and artistry, blended with a sensitive understanding of the nature of all animals and of the African people.
